The night is still and the sky is clear, and our time here is coming to an end.
More prematurely than we had first hoped, but ultimately the time is right. We have spent two months on France's south coast where the prices soar as high as the temperatures, and to the untrained eye this is paradise. A villa high up in the mountains overlooking the bay of St Tropez, the playground of the rich.
At a different moment in our lives this may have been the perfect scenario, but we all know that nothing is perfect, and nothing can last forever.
In many ways I returning to my homeland with a sense of trepidation, not so much for what we are leaving being, but for what lies ahead.
We have decided to quit playing at globetrotters and working at jobs where rent free living means leaving your soul and integrity at the door.
London looms large, we are returning to England with a bang and flourish, ready for busy lifestyle, a full social schedule, leaving the menial jobs behind and knocking, edging our feet in the door of reality to make a life now that will expand horizons and create a future worth living.
The possibilities are both terrifying and exhilarating all in one mind-expanding moment.
Looking back, there are a couple of ways to look at our time here. We have had seven days with paying guests at the villa, eight days with our troubled and ultimately infuriating boss Ros and eye of the tiger husband John. The remaining 41days have been our own. You could say it was a 41 day holiday, and had we known how it would all pan out we'd have lived each of those 41 days to the maximum.
Yet we go away with mixed feelings, we may look back and miss this place, this tranquil setting, this luxurious outpost. Yet in the same breath this place never felt like our own, despite her hardly ever setting foot in the place, Ros' presence was always here. She gave no love to it, she left her mark but it appeared more as a joyless stain which made it harder for even us, with open hearts and minds, to enjoy.
Tomorrow we will clean, swim, rake, weed, wash, dry, eat and sleep here one last time before joining the ranks in the real world. And I can't wait. Onward, the journey continues, until we arrive someplace we may call home.
The End.
